Who is CMTS ?

Coal Mines Technical Services (CMTS) was established in 1983 as a technical support division to provide a gas analysis and calibration facility for the Mines Rescue Service of NSW Australia.

The Mines Rescue Service is now known as Mines Rescue Pty Limited and is a subsidiary of Coal Services which commenced operations in January 2002. Coal Services also incorporates Coal Mines Insurance and Coal Services Health.

In it's first year of operation the Coal Mines Technical Services laboratory gained accreditation with the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) in the field of chemical testing to ensure the integrity of this work.

The laboratory was also registered as an approved Class 'B' workshop for intrinsic safety with the NSW Department of Primary Industries.

A number of Coal Mines Technical Services Staff are accredited by the department as competent persons for the repair of explosion protected electrical apparatus, intrinsic safety.
